Abstract
Epilepsy is an urgent social problem. Nowadays in Russia almost 450 thousand of patients have faced with this disease, the purpose of which therapy is to reduce the frequency of epileptic seizures. Most of the patients currently have a non-pharmacoresistant form of epilepsy which is available for conservative therapy, while for about a third of the total number of patients these methods are ineffective. For this reason, active work is underway to find new and more effective methods for the treatment of this disease. The article discusses the current principles of the epilepsy treatment.
Keywords: epilepsy, seizure, antiepileptic therapy, monotherapy, epileptic status, actual principles of treatment
