Abstract
When studying domestic or international literature concerning the history of ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), a number of patterns can be noted that are primarily associated with the focus of the doctor’s professionalism. A person who devotes himself to medicine usually puts the interests of the patient above all other interests, and if he or she is engaged in educational or scientific activities, then this interest leaves mark on the content of the work of this person. The literature about ABPM, in particular about the history of this method, often contains ideas whose origin is not at all clinical in nature, but, for example, technical, commercial, or biophysical. The purpose of this review is an attempt to critically examine information about the history of ABPM from the point of view of a clinician.
