Abstract
Introduction: the study of changes in the indicators of blood lipid peroxidation, the activity of the antioxidant system of the blood in post-traumatic peritonitis, to assess the immune reactions of the body, can help to better understand the entire immune response in post-traumatic peritonitis, which can be used in the future in diagnosis, which is important for assessing the dynamics of treatment of patients with this pathology.
Аim: to study the indicators of the pro-oxidant system of the blood and the antioxidant activity of the blood to assess the body’s immune reactions in patients with posttraumatic peritonitis.
Material and methods: the study included 64 patients aged 24 to 73 years. The inclusion criteria were: age over 18 years, 2 criteria for systemic inflammation syndrome or more, clinical signs of posttraumatic peritonitis and the results of additional research methods. The exclusion criteria were the presence of an unsanitized focus of surgical infection, ongoing bleeding.
Results and discussion: patients were found to have a significant increase in the level of MDA (5.8 μmol/l), an increase in the activity of the spontaneous NBT test (65 %), the content of catalase in erythrocytes (53 mmol/min*gHb), SOD in patients 6.2 u/ml and a decrease in the content of ceruloplasmin (252 mg/l).
Findings: fs a result of this study, patients with posttraumatic peritonitis were found to have an increased production of a complex of both pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines with their rapid and excessive intake into the peripheral blood, as well as a significant increase in the level of MDA, an increase in the activity of a spontaneous NВT test of the catalase content in erythrocytes, and a decrease in the content of ceruloplasmin.
Keywords: antioxidant activity of blood, cytokine profile, oxidative stress, posttraumatic peritonitis
